Growing in faith together

On Sundays, our children start with their families and the whole congregation for a time of worship. After a short while in the service, children then move to their groups with the children’s team. At Christchurch, we offer groups for all children aged 2 up to year 6.

Crèche

Parents and carers with young children are welcome to join in our main service. However, if you would prefer, you are welcome to use our DIY creche which is available for children under 2. There are plenty of toys and a selection of books for children. At both sites, the creche allows you to look out into the main worship area through a glass panel and the service can be heard. .

Each Sunday, our welcome team are on hand to direct families who would like to use the creche during the service.

Seedlings

Who?

Seedlings is for children aged 2 up to and including children in reception.

What?

Seedlings is a play-based venue where children enjoy playing and making friends. During our sessions, we explore a Bible story together, play games, offer a craft activity, and spend time chatting and catching from God (talking and listening to God in times of prayer).

Where?

@ Parkway, Seedlings meet in the first children’s room which can be accessed via the double doors from the entrance hall.

@ Peartree, Seedlings meet in a room on the ground floor. The room can be accessed via a corridor from the cafe area.

Saplings and Rooted

Who?

Saplings and Rooted is for children in school years 1 to 6.

What?

Each week, Saplings and Rooted start off together for a time of games, worship and the team introduce the theme for the week. The group then splits into smaller groups, usually based on ages, to explore the Bible in more depth and have time to chat and catch (prayer) with God.

Where?

@ Parkway, Saplings and Rooted meet in the second children’s room which can be accessed via the double doors from the entrance hall.

@ Peartree, Saplings and Rooted meet upstairs in our kids room which can be accessed via a door at the front of the worship space.

Each Sunday, the welcome team and children’s team are always on hand to help direct families to the children’s room.

Themes for our Children’s groups

In the second half term of Summer, starting on Sunday 4th June, Seedlings will be following a series called God’s Family and Saplings and Rooted will be following a series called Time to Celebrate.

After Sunday mornings

We love our time on a Sunday morning with the kids but we want to support our parents and carers during the rest of the week too as you disciple your kids.

So, after the services on Sunday, we add some pondering questions linked to our theme for each week that families can talk about over a meal or whenever you have a moment to chat. These can be found on our Facebook page, – Children at Christchurch WGC.

As part of our worship time, we use a range of songs and these can be found on our Spotify playlist, CC WGC Kids
